Driver spec / characteristics

Vitis uses an RBW-spec custom DC low-voltage LED module known as CC-LED. The input spec for one CC-LED is ~3VDC @700mA. There are two (2) CC-LED modules per Vitis lamp, wired in series, so the input requirement per lamp is ~6VDC @700mA. That means each lamp is rated at approx. 4.2 Watts.

This very low voltage requirement is a limitation when selecting phase-dimmable drivers for VS-1 and VS-3.

Where do you mount it?

Vitis Chandelier is a UL 2108 Low Voltage Luminaire. As such, it does not include or contain a power unit. Vitis must be powered by a remote driver.

While some drivers may physically fit into some junction boxes, installing this way may or may not be code compliant. Customers should consult with their electrician or building inspector if they plan to try to install a driver in a junction box. They should also be aware of the driver dimensions, which can be found on the driver datasheet.

Does it require an enclosure?

The short answer is, probably. A driver (or any electrical appliance) fed by the Class 1 AC mains must have some means of protecting the wire connections and containing any spark or fire, should it occur.

The best location and installation method for Vitis driver is surely in the domain of the electrical contractor. RBW should not make specific recommendations or endorsements as we may not be aware of all of the codes or requirements relevant to the client's specific project or locale.
